Hi again! I just posted my intro in a diff thread. I had a couple of questions though...
My dd currently has a blonde bitty and the blonde bitty twins. i know ag says the older dolls are recommended ages 8+ . What age do you all think is approp? My dd will be turning 6 in april...i'm wondering if she's ready. she's taken very good care of her twins...but i don't want to rush it.
Also, i see some of you sell your old stuff on ebay to fund your dolls. Does anybody buy ag with strictly the intention of reselling? Is that even allowed? I know some people must have made a fortune off marisol during the holidays. I bought marisol from ag to give dd when she's a bit older, but i wondered if there was a way to buy ag in bulk for resale? Is this allowed? Is it worth it? or are only retired items worth reselling? It was tempting to sell marisol when i saw the prices of them on ebay...but she is too beautiful of a doll...so she is still here!! I'm a sahm mom and starting to dabble with selling some stuff on ebay to help with our addiction!!
thanks in advance!

In that letter, she recommends that the beginning age should be age 7, so that is what I go by, even though the current company might say age 8.
I agree with that age, because......
1) that is the age when most girls can read the books for themselves.
2) girls that age can relate better to the situations in the books.
3) by that age girls might have more of an appreciation for the significance of the amount of money that it takes to buy such a special doll.
4) by that age, the girls are more capable of dealing with the special care of the hair that is necessary (and other aspects of the doll), and they have the ability to deal with the special detailing of the clothes, like the buttons, buckles, snaps, hooks, and such (although most of the current clothes have fewer of those kinds of details).
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Does anybody buy ag with strictly the intention of reselling? Is that even allowed? <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I'm sure that a lot of people do that, including me, sometimes, when I see that something's retiring. When you buy it off of ebay or brand new from the AG company (in the store or by ordering it), it is allowed to resell it, just as it would be if you bought anything else. When you buy AG items at the annual MCM sale, the MCM policy is that those items should not be resold, although I don't think that there is anything legal to back them up.
When things are retiring, I often buy one for me and one for resale--brand new, through the store or catalog or online.

This makes a profit only if there happens to be a retired item hidden in the lot, or if there's something going for extra cheap in there, as when there's something that needs repair or refurbishing. Naturally, the things that make the most profit are those that are retired.
Another way to make a profit is to find AG items in thrift stores or through the newspaper, where they might be selling for much cheaper than they're worth.
